2011 – ASX Thomson Reuters Charity Regatta

What a fabulous day!!

 

Under partly cloudy skies and a brisk Nor'easter gusting up to 30kph the 6th Financial and Media Markets Regatta took place on 28th October 2011. 

 

Over 600 guests either crewed on the 40 racing yachts or sipped champagne on the VIP spectator lunch cruise - before partying on to the sound of `Peppermint Jam' on the beach at MHYC.

 

Hearty congratulations to the skipper Ed Psaltis and crew of `AFR Midnight Rambler' who crossed the line first to take out the 2011 Financial Markets Charity Cup - as well as winning division 2.  Less than 3 minutes behind, `Kookaburra', sponsored by Bank of America Merill Lynch took first place in division 1 and they were closely followed by PHD Network on `Southern Excellence' and ANZ Bank on `Spirit'. 

 

2nd Place in division 2 but 4th across the line overall was 'Estate Master' sponsored by Etihad Airways, hard on their heels came `Zen' crewed by the team from Virgin Atlantic.

 

Division 3 was won by `Lu Lu Belle' sponsored by BT Global with charity boat `Shazam' second and Thomson Reuters Legal and Tax on Ampersand a creditable 3rd.

 

Initial indications are that the event raised over $90,000 which will go towards the goal of raising $1.2 million for 22 children's, disability and Medical Research Charities we are supporting this year.
